About darren hauck

Darren Hauck is a Milwaukee, Wis.-based freelance photographer specializing in documentary and hard news. Born and raised in the land of beer and cheese, Hauck received a BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design before landing a job at a small town newspaper. That's lead him to a decade of freelance photography that has taken him all over the world. From refugee camps in southeast Asia to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, assignments in India and Central America, Hauck has captured unflinching images of humanity on the brink, pausing along the way to record street musicians later introduced to his friends via his popular mixed CDs. Hauck hopes to continue his work based in Milwaukee, but is prepared to sell shell necklaces to tourists on the beaches of Central America if the American economy should collapse.
